My two year old is obsessed with cable cars so this afternoon trip was just heaven for him. We started in Lauterbrunnen where we took the first cable car to Grütschalp ( btw. stay on the left side of the cabin to enjoy the view of Staubach fall)
Then we took the train to Mürren. Mürren is a really picturesque village with amazing views
From Mürren we went up to Birg in a cablecar.
In Birg while you wait for yet another cable car to your final destination you can enjoy bit scary panorama from the terrace .
And after the “don’t look down” moment we rode up to the Schilthorn. Easily recognisable for its circular shape.
Once you up there you can enjoy 360 degree panoramic view of the “Swiss skyline” including Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. If you are a James Bond fan you will surely recognise this place from 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. I didn’t. But don’t worry in the waiting room you can watch all the scenes from the movie over and over again while waiting to go back down.
This afternoon was an amazing first course in our trip to Bernese Alps. If we have had more time we would hike down from Mürren to Lauterbrunnen. But we have to keep something for the next time .
